Digital Video is one of my numerous hobbies. If you like me, you are probably frustrated with time it takes to convert DV to DVD with some minor editing.
Also, if your episodes are very long, you may experience some audio/video out of sync,
that sux. So DV/Firewire , coming as standard today with video recorder and Laptop
may not always fit the bill.

What are options ?

1) Get Video Cam with HD or DVD - well, sure , that is thing of the future.
But I have nice 3CCD DV with Leika lens and it fit the bill.

2) Use conversion services. Nice, but ... Price and turn around time.

3) Use Hardware encoder. I just got one a while ago and it rulez. You can get this on for very very cheap here ( after rebate )

That what I did.

I have two points

a) S-VIDEO with my DV CAM does not worked for audio
b) Try to choose hardware compression suitable for project or you end up with the same old conversion that is 5-6 times of real footage.

Like if you make regular DVD , do not choose DivX ;-) ( that is still cool to do and put on DVD for new breed of DVD players that can handle it and that the way to go )
