I admit it was a long break, but I finaly got a new toy. After few visists to my Gadget Loving friend that has projector and now Wii I start looking for prices and found a cool deal : XGA for 600$

This is simple Optoma EP719 projector.

http://www.optomausa.com/Product_detail.asp?productsubcat=1&productcategory=Consumer+Data&product_id=219

Advance DLP® technology for deeper 2500:1 contrast and bright at 2000 lumens
Extensive connectivity for true HD digital DVI-D w/HDCP, VGA (YPbPr) for HDTV connection
Native XGA (1024x768) and maximum SXGA+ (1400x1050) resolution for high-end display needs
HDTV Compatibility for High Definition entertainment from a variety of sources

There is realy nothing spesial in it, but with discounts and rebate + 140$ 4 years no worry waranty from Curcuit City ( they will repalce lamp) it shoudl probably last for 5 years and that is good enough for 740$ and almost 720p 120'' DVD viewing device.

It can do DVD up to the qualty they offer and play DivX and other things. I do not have HD anyway and as for future we will see.

Finding screen and mount was a chore : nobody cary it, online only. Same for VGA->Componet adapter ( I am lucky I got one to try). Well, newegg it will be :-)

Projetcor needs shades in room and very nice at night: esentaly when I do watch DVD.

RCA provide lower resolution but much more saturated colors then VGA->Component. I have to find a way to adjust component or get use to it or may be it is related to DVD player I use.

Experimentation ...

Now, my home theater project is not done yet, it is all in TEMP condition, but after few week ends I should be good:-)

Fan noise is not loud at all and not bothers me much ( projector is also way up)

Final words : I do not watch TV and only see may be 1-2 DVD's a week if I am lucky.
Watching it on BIG screen ( 120'' in case of my room ) make, HUGE difference. It is nice.
So if you have time to watch a flick, you'd better make sure you enjoy it. If you have room for projector and love "theatrical experience" - get one !

SIZE DOES MATTER !!! ( when it 120'' :-)
